Formed by Jon and Jim in 2008, Jonathan James Joinery is a family business with many years involvement in the joinery trade and manufacture of bespoke kitchens. 

Prior to this, Jim and Jon ran a successful property development business and specialised in the renovation and redevelopment of listed properties. The unique selling point of all their properties were the bespoke hand-built kitchens - every one unique and complemetary to that property. 

 

It soon became apparent that there was keen interest in the kitchens and other bespoke joinery products from potential buyers and Jon and Jim quickly found a demand for similar items. Before too long, they found themselves in a situation where they supplying the public outside of their property portfolio, hence Jonathan James Joinery was born. 

 

Jim started out at a young age making joinery moulds in the Brixham iron foundry in the late 70's and quickly found his passion for creativity in wood and moved on into the bespoke joinery trade. Experimenting with design ideas for solutions across the home in various timbers, he found his talents lied in reproducing replacement wooden windows and doors in both listed and non-listed properties. By the 1990's, Jim had built a solid name for himself in the South Devon area and his reputation lied in his "indestructable" workmanship and eye for detail. 

 

Jon got his first job in the building trade with Jim after leaving school in the mid 1990's and then moved on to complete an apprenticeship in brickwork. 

Reunited in 2000, Jon and Jim branched into developing properties togethor and Jon soon found that his talents lied in the manufacture and installation of bespoke joinery, his modern approach to design complimenting Jim's traditional techniques. As time went on the kitchen designs became Jon and Jim's signature trademark.

We have been established since 1987. We are a family joinery firm who specialise in the personal and individual needs of our wide and very varied specialized customer base across Torbay and the South West. 

We make any item in wood: furniture, windows, doors, staircases, gates, office counters to name just a few. 

Mouldings are a speciality of ours, with our sister company Cuttercare we can make any moulding of any shape out of any species of wood. We can produce shapes and patterns to match any Victorian or historic profile to assist with the renovation of these older properties. 

We are committed to producing the best product from the best selected joinery timber in the country, and are committed to the environment by using timber from renewable and managed woodlands. All waste products are recycled in to waste wood eco fuel logs which are an almost carbon neutral heat source. This also prevents the waste from going to land fill.
